Questions From The Field

Asked and answeredbefore you head out.

When does the Expedition kick off?

Registration begins on June 17, 2026 and the Expedition begins June 26, 2026, with staggered locations and weekly releases across ten towns and regions throughout the summer.

How do I register?

The registration form is located at the bottom of this page.

What counts as a winning coin?

Three official coins have been hidden for each hunt. The coins are clearly marked with a unique code. The winner will confirm the coin via text message, but the prize cannot be earned or claimed until the coin is turned in to a Clearwater Representative.

How is the winner verified?

You bring the physical coin to the designated verification location for that region. Organizers check the alphanumeric code against their master record.

Can I team up with friends?

You can cache with friends, but each participant registers individually, and only the person who physically delivers the coin is recorded as the winner.

What if I cannot find a cache?

Stay on public access points, follow the clues carefully, and do not damage any surroundings. If a cache appears damaged or missing, email [email protected].

Are there any rules I should know upfront?

Yes: no drones, no metal detectors, no public spoilers during the contest window, and no trespassing.

The Fine Print

Rules of thehunt.

Geocaching only works when everyone plays clean. Read these once before you register, your participant ID acknowledges them.

Eligibility and Where To Look

You must be 18 years of age or older at the time of registration. Open to any member of the general public with a valid email address and a smartphone or GPS device. Clearwater Properties agents, staff, immediate family, and anyone involved in placing caches are not eligible to win. All caches sit on public land or on private property where explicit permission has been granted. Participants are responsible for their own travel, lodging, fuel, parking, and permit fees. No cache requires trespassing, climbing fences, or disturbing historical or environmental sites.

Conduct and Etiquette

Play fairly. Do not tamper with, move, or hide caches from other participants. Do not share cache locations with other participants before the contest ends. Do not post spoilers, coordinates, or photos that reveal hiding spots on social media during the contest window. Do not use drones, metal detectors, or other tools that give an unfair advantage. Respect other cachers, property owners, FWP and USFS staff, and the public at all times. Follow all posted rules at parks, trailheads, and public spaces. Obey all local, state, and federal laws.

Disqualification

Submitting a coin or code that was not genuinely found by the participant may result in disqualification. Damaging, removing, or concealing caches to hinder other participants is not allowed. Trespassing, vandalism, harassment, unsafe behavior, or false registration information may disqualify a participant. Organizers may disqualify any conduct they determine is contrary to the spirit of the contest.

Media Release and Liability

Participants may be photographed, filmed, or recorded when discovering a cache or receiving a prize. By participating, participants allow Clearwater Properties to use those images, videos, and likenesses for marketing without compensation or further notice. Geocaching involves inherent risks including travel, outdoor conditions, physical exertion, and wildlife encounters. Clearwater Properties may modify rules, relocate caches, change the contest window, or cancel the contest for safety, weather, or other circumstances beyond its control.
